We won GOLD(s) at the 2nd International Malaysia-Indonesia-Thailand Symposium on Innovation and Creativity (iMIT SIC 2018)
Date: 6-8 August, 2018
Venue: UNRI Pekan Baru Riau, Indonesia
The 2nd iMIT SIC this year took place at the Universitas Islam Negeri Sultan Syarif Kasim Riau, which is also a strategic partner of this iMIT SIC 2018.
The organisers of the event are Universitas Riau (UNRI), Universitas Islam Riau (UIR), Princess of Naradhiwas University (PNU), Malaysian Solid State Science and Technology Society (MASS), Universitas Ubudiyah Indonesia, Universiti Malaysia Perlis and IEEE Computer Society Malaysia.
I registered 3 products in the beginning. Papan Sintok (me and Jaja), Dysgraphic handwriting tools (Safinar and me), and Sensor pencil (Haidayat and me). Unfortunately, on the day of the event, Hidayat, all of a sudden, withdraw from the competition for no obvious reason. I was shocked…but well, embrace what may come. No point to cry over spilled milk. I proceed with whatever we have. I guess it should not be a big issue since in total, UUM put up 5 products (3 others are of Noraziah’s, Azzah’s and Farhan’s).
I flew with Pa and Iman from AOR to KUL to PKU, Pekan Baru Riau. Riau is not so far away from Kuala Lumpur, but the transit (and of course the usual Air Asia’s delay!!…grrrr) has taken up almost one whole day traveling. We safely landed at about 2pm Riau’s time. Rushed to the registration venue at UNRI then we checked-in at Aryaduta Hotel which is nearby.
The agenda for the 2-day event:
The first day was tough. The judges were tough. But I have faith in the goodness of our product, Papan Sintok and the handwriting tools. We tell the truth, show them our product, let them touch and play with the tools so they may judge fairly.
And, as you may guess from the title, we won gold medals for both products. Noarziah also won her gold, but Azzah only manage to get Silver and Farhan Bronze. But in all, all five of us manage to get our awards (meaning to say, tak balik tangan kosong la).
I got really sick on the second day, thus I did not join the trip to Siak. Iman and Pa did. But due to a very long trip to Siak, I guess they are more tired than happy.
On my way back home, still suffer the stomach ache, fatigue and dizziness. Oh, I still manage to make new friend. I met Yeni who was on her way to Malacca. Very kind of her to buy me biscuits, drinks and a small booklet –surah Ya-Sin.
What happen next? Yes, we reached home safely. But Pa has to take me to the hospital…and the ending is not so good. I was admitted for severe stomach ache, gastric , fatigue and god knows what…
